Great Wall Motors is recalling its 2023 Ora electric car due to a programming issue which can cause an electrical arc and harm owners.
“Due to a programming issue, if the operator removes the charging cable without cancelling the charge, an electrical arc between the charging plug and the vehicle may occur,” the company says in its recall notice.
“If an electrical arc comes into contact with the operator or bystanders it will increase the risk of serious injury or death.”

If you own an affected vehicle, GWM will contact you in writing. You’ll need to make an appointment with your preferred GWM dealership who will update the software, free of charge.
