2021 Honda HR-V gets Apple CarPlay, Android Auto

Honda has given its two smallest cars a much-needed technology update, adding smartphone mirroring to their infotainment systems.

Honda has given its compact HR-V crossover and Jazz hatchback a much-needed technology boost, adding Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The 2021 model year HR-V and Jazz ranges have been treated to a fresh 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, similar to the setup from the Civic and CR-V.

Drivers will be able to send messages, use Google Maps, make phone calls, and access their music and podcasts through the car’s touchscreen when their phone is connected through USB.

The update should give the HR-V a boost against newer rivals like the Hyundai Kona and Kia Seltos.

Although the car well-known for its practicality, with clever folding and tumbling Magic Seats, the outgoing infotainment system left a lot to be desired.

This is likely the last time the Jazz will be updated in Australia. A new model has been announced overseas, but Honda won’t be bringing it Down Under.

The current model will serve until the end of 2020, at which point it will be phased out.

Prices are up by at least $500 across the HR-V and Jazz ranges. Check out the full pricing and spec breakdown for the HR-V here, and the Jazz here.
