The Subaru XV is the small crossover that preceded the Crosstrek name in Australia. It is no longer on sale as a new model locally, but its formula continues closely in the current Crosstrek. The XV combined Impreza-based underpinnings with extra ground clearance, SUV styling and standard all-wheel drive, giving it more capability than many city-focused small SUVs. It appealed to buyers who wanted easy urban dimensions with extra traction for wet roads, gravel tracks and weekend trips. Performance was modest, yet the XV's practicality, visibility and safety credentials made it a popular Subaru entry point. Its replacement keeps the same core strengths under a more global name.
