The Toyota Crown is a long-running premium nameplate overseas, but it is not on sale as a new model in Australia. In modern form the Crown has evolved beyond a traditional sedan into a more distinctive range of elevated sedan and crossover-style models, depending on market. Its relevance locally is mostly as a marker of Toyota's premium engineering and hybrid technology outside the Lexus brand. The Crown appeals to buyers interested in comfort, refinement and understated luxury with Toyota reliability, although Australian availability has been limited. If sold here in future, it would likely sit above the Camry and offer a more premium alternative for buyers not seeking a conventional SUV.
