Volkswagen is recalling 2295 examples of its Multivan, Transporter and Caravelle vans and people movers due to a manufacturing issue that may cause the front doors to not latch.
This recall affects T6.1-generation Multivan, Transporter and Caravelle vans sold from 2020 to 2021.
“Due to a manufacturing issue, the locking mechanism on the front doors may not latch and could remain stuck in the open position,” the company says in its recall notice.
“If the latch becomes stuck in the open position, the door can open while driving. This could increase the risk of serious injury or death to vehicle occupants or other road users.”

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to contact a Volkswagen dealer to schedule a free inspection and fix.
If you have any further questions, you can contact Volkswagen on 1800 504 076.
