Unaccompanied learner with three unrestrained kids cops slap on wrist

A learner driver has been charged with multiple offences after being pulled over without a supervisor – and with three improperly or unrestrained children in her car.

Nepean Highway Patrol officers pulled over the Honda Odyssey for random testing when they noticed the child seats were improperly restrained and moving freely as they were not anchored to mounting points as required.

The 28-year-old woman produced an expired overseas licence to police, though further checks found she held a New South Wales learner’s licence, which requires a fully licensed driver as a supervisor.

She was also found to be driving without L-plates, another requirement of her licence.

Police issued the woman with several infringement notices, including: driving without an accompanying full-licence holder, not displaying L-plates, driving with three unrestrained passengers and driving without carrying a licence.

In addition to the accumulation of demerit points for these offences, her licence was suspended on the spot for three months.

Thankfully, it’s understood the three children were unharmed.
