Australian-bound brand Zeekr has previewed a new ultra-luxury four-seat version of its 009 electric people mover on social media ahead of its reveal in China on April 18.

This new four-seat Zeekr 009 will sit above the current six-seat version offered in China, which was first revealed in 2022.

In China, it’ll wear a starting price tag of 500,000 yuan, equivalent to around $108,000.

At this stage it’s unclear if this four-seat version of the electric people mover will make its way to Australia.

The Zeekr brand, owned by Volvo and Polestar parent Geely, is currently set to launch locally in the second half of 2024, with the 009 being the only model locked in for now.

In the lead-up to the reveal the Chinese brand has published a few exterior and interior images of the four-seat 009 on social media, as well as a short 20-second video showing some of its features.

Externally, it’s distinguished from lesser 009s with Maybach-like monoblock wheels.

Inside there are two first class airplane-style individual seats in the rear with plenty of cushioning and retractable tray tables. There’s also a huge divider between the front and rear compartments, like the Lexus LM, that houses a huge screen.

Zeekr has yet to release a full list of equipment for the flagship model.

At this stage it’s also unclear what will power the four-seat version of the 009. The ‘regular’ version that was first revealed back in 2022 is powered by a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup producing 400kW of power and 686Nm of torque.

In China the six-seat 009 is offered with either 116kWh or 140kWh batteries supplied by CATL, with claimed range figures of 702km and 822km – albeit both on the generous CLTC test cycle.

The 009 measures in at 5209mm long, 2024mm wide, and 1848-1856mm tall with a 3205mm wheelbase. This makes it virtually the same size as the LDV MIFA 9.

As previously reported, Zeekr will position itself as a premium electric vehicle brand when it launches here in the second half of 2024.

Zeekr has previously confirmed to CarExpert the 009 people mover will be offered here, though the X crossover shapes as a strong possibility after the brand posted about it on its Australian LinkedIn account.

Both the Zeekr 009 and X are now available to pre-order in right-hand drive form in Thailand, where they’ll go on sale later this year.

Zeekr only started delivering vehicles in China in 2021, but is already expanding rapidly around the world.

It plans to be selling cars across multiple European, Middle Eastern and Asian markets over the next five years.
