Abarth has revealed a new limited-production sports car which is claimed to be a modern reinterpretation of the Fiat-Abarth OT 1300 Group 4 race car from the 1960s.

Only five examples of the Abarth Classiche 1300 OT will be produced and it can already be ordered. It’s unclear how each example costs.

This retro limited-production sports car is mechanically based on the limited-production Abarth Classiche 1000 SP which was first revealed in 2021, which in turn is derived from the Alfa Romeo 4C.

The Italian carmaker hasn’t detailed technical specifications for the 1300 OT, though the related 1000 SP is powered by the same mid-mounted 1.75-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine as the Alfa Romeo 4C, making 177kW of power and 450Nm of torque.

It’s mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission with drive sent to the rear wheels only.

Abarth has confirmed the 1300 OT’s body is made exclusively of carbon fibre.

On the design front it features “sinuous curves” with a plethora of air intakes dedicated to cooling.

The iconic “periscope” of the classic 1960s race car has been reimagined in this new limited-production sports car as a roof-mounted air intake.

At the rear there’s a slotted plexiglass rear window, as well as a large rear grille with ‘Abarth’ lettering.

“Abarth Classiche 1300 OT represents the most authentic and genuine way to honour an epic car that is still in the hearts of all true enthusiasts of the Abarth brand around the world,” says the company in its press release.

The original 1965 Fiat-Abarth OT 1300 racer was derived from an “efficient elaboration” of the Fiat 850. It featured a “periscope” air intake to cool the cabin.

During its time racing the car achieved victories at the Nürburgring, Monza and Mugello.
