The Mercedes-Benz G-Class lineup is growing in Australia to once again include a diesel option.
The diesel-powered Mercedes-Benz G450d joins the petrol-powered Mercedes-AMG G63 flagship and the electric-powered Mercedes-Benz G580 with EQ Technology.
Available in showrooms from today, it’s priced at $214,900 before on-road costs.

Under the bonnet is a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel inline six with a 48V mild-hybrid system, delivering total outputs of 270kW of power and 750Nm of torque.
The G450d can do the 0-100km/h sprint in a claimed 5.8 seconds.
It’s the first time a diesel-powered G-Wagen has been offered in Australia since the G400d was axed in 2022, just 12 months after its local launch.
The G450d may have a steep price but it’s actually more affordable than the G400d it belatedly replaces.
The old G400d was initially priced from $233,900 before on-road costs, but a subsequent rise saw the asking price increase to $246,500 before on-roads.
At just under $215,000 plus on-roads, the G450d is $35,000 cheaper than the battery-powered G580 with EQ Technology and a whopping $153,500 more affordable than the twin-turbo V8-powered AMG G63, both of which nevertheless produce much more at around 430kW.
