Chery's first electric vehicle in Australia, the Omoda E5, is arriving here next month with 430km of range. Pricing has yet to be announced.
The Chery Omoda E5 is arriving soon as the brand’s first electric vehicle (EV) in Australia, and will be offered in two variants.
While Chery has released a list of standard equipment as well as powertrain details, it hasn’t announced pricing yet. It says this will come closer to the car’s September launch.
The company has previously said, however, that its pricing will be “competitive”.
“I think the natural competitors are the [BYD] Atto 3 and the MG 4, so we’ll obviously be looking to how do we make sure that we’re competitive to get on the shopping list with customers,” Chery Australia managing director Lucas Harris told CarExpert earlier this year.
Chery has also previously said it’s working to get vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology for the Omoda E5 in Australia, which would give it a fairly unique selling point given this capability isn’t universal among EVs.
The Omoda E5 will launch, however, with one feature that’s very rare among EVs: a full-sized spare wheel.
