Alpina is getting ready to turn up the wick on the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe.

The Alpina B4 Gran Coupe has been snapped testing near the Nurburgring, wearing classic Alpina styling down back.

Although its body is mostly unchanged from the regular 4 Series Gran Coupe, the B4 has camouflage on its lower bumpers and air intakes. Both will likely be massaged by Alpina, which has a distinct style for essentially all its cars.

There are four round exhaust pipes down back, an Alpina staple, and what look like unique wheels.

It’s not yet clear what Alpina will do under the skin, but the closely-related B3 and B3 Touring likely serve as a guide.

Power in the B3 comes from a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six making 340kW and 700Nm, put to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The 100km/h sprint is dispatched in just 3.8 seconds, claimed fuel use is 11.1L/100km on the combined cycle.

As with all Alpina models, the B4 Gran Coupe will likely feature a comfort-oriented adaptive suspension with a unique Comfort Plus setting. It’s designed to be even softer than the setting in BMW models, for a business-class ride over any type of road.

Inside, the Alpina formula is simple. The B4 GC will be available with lavish Lavalina leather trim, and unique piping/finish options compared to the more mundane BMW range.
