Renault Group accused of ignoring safety in electric hatches
5 Years Ago
The Renault Zoe is a discontinued electric light hatchback that helped introduce Renault's EV expertise to Australia. It was compact, quiet and efficient, with a city-focused brief built around short commutes and easy parking. The Zoe arrived before small EVs were common locally, giving early adopters a European alternative to larger and more expensive electric cars. Its limited Australian uptake reflected pricing, range expectations and the slow early growth of EV infrastructure, but the concept was sound: simple electric mobility in a practical hatchback shape. The Zoe remains important in Renault's global EV story and helped pave the way for newer models such as the Megane E-Tech and Scenic E-Tech.
