    About the Kia EV6

Gary B purchased this Kia EV6 new for $92,000 (including all on-road costs). Gary B would buy this car again because: “The Kia EV6 has distinguished itself by winning not only the Wheels Car of the Year award in Australia but was also voted 2022 German Car of the Year in the German Car of the Year (GCOTY) awards. Truly amazing.”

How reliable has your car been? Tell us about any issues.

It is a bit early to really identify issues, as I’ve only had the car for two months, but all has been good so far. I was delighted Kia did all the software updates before delivery to me.

These types of cars are like computers and need frequent updates

What do you think of the ownership experience with your car?

I’ve had a variety of cars, including a Mazda MX-5 and a variety of sporty Peugeots – this car is VERY different. I had to stop at the local servo and buy a can of coke, I missed the servo so much.

How has the purchase and aftercare experience been with your car?

Kia is still very focused on its dealer network and worked hard to keep me happy during the eight-month wait time. I had frequent calls with honest updates, sometimes good news and sometimes bad news.

Always honest and to the point. The only way to build a long-term relationship

Are you happy with the price and features of your car?

The Kia EV6 is my very first electric car and the most expensive car I’ve bought by a long margin. I think it is good value but more expensive than I’d like.

The features are great but only just ahead of my three year-old Peugeot 3008.

What do you think of the performance and economy of your car?

Zoooom – it is electric and AWD, so it flies. But I didn’t buy it to drive like a maniac and I seldom drive in sport mode.

Over my first 3000km, I have managed to average 18.0kWh/100km. With the large battery that equates to a range of about 430km.

What do you think of the technology in your car?

The technology for lane-keeping is good but not as good as Tesla. In Australia we only get the Highway Driving Assist (HDA) version 1 and not the updated version, this reduces the effectiveness.

The Head-Up Display (HUD) is really good and I love the ‘school zone’ warnings that pop up.

What do you think of the ride comfort and handling of your car?

I understand Kia Australia carried out localisation of the suspension before it went on sale. This was apparent on rough Victorian country roads during a recent trip to Warrnambool.

The vehicle is over two tonnes but handles well and is very comfortable.
