Nissan Australia is making it easier and safer to bring your furry friend along for a drive.

The company has revealed a range of new accessories called the Dog Pack that’s designed to keep your dog comfortable and safe in your car.

Available on the current-generation Qashqai, X-Trail and Patrol SUVs, the Dog Pack accessory range can be customised for a small-to-medium dog, or a large dog.

The Nissan Dog Pack includes a rear protection tray or mat (depending on model), a reflective boot-lip protector, an over-seat cargo-area organiser and an “all-terrain” dog bed.

There’s also a four-piece dog travel set that includes an easy-store bowl, a lead, a waste-bag holder and a sealable food bag.

Other optional inclusions on top of the Dog Pack include a cargo barrier and an extendable ramp that can stretch to 1.6 metres.

When the extendable ramp isn’t in use, Nissan says it can be stowed in the boot or under a seat.

Nissan customers are able to get the Dog Pack by itself, get the ramp or cargo barrier added separately, or they can go absolutely all out and get everything.

A Nissan spokesperson added that owners of Nissan vehicles other than the Qashqai, X-Trail and Patrol can purchase individual parts of the Dog Pack if they want the dog travel set.

They also confirmed that more Nissan models might be considered in the future to receive the Dog Pack treatment, depending on demand from these three initial models.

The Dog Pack and its optional accessories can be ordered at Nissan dealers across Australia at the time of vehicle purchase, or can be ordered as an accessory to existing vehicles.

Pricing for the Dog Pack and the other optional accessories varies according to both vehicle type and whether it’s the small-to-medium or large Dog Pack.

The Nissan Dog Pack is priced as follows:

    Small-to-medium dogLarge dog
    Dog PackFrom $339From $353
    Dog Pack + rampFrom $471From $485
    Dog Pack + cargo barrierFrom $1038From $1052

All prices listed are manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP).

“For so many of us, our pets are like a member of the family, and now it’s easier than ever to bring your dog along with you on your next road-trip, whether to the local park or to the other side of the country,” said Nissan Australia managing director Adam Paterson.

The introduction of these accessories comes at the end of the current Qashqai and X-Trail SUV’s lifecycles.

Nissan is gearing up for a new product onslaught in 2022 with the arrival of new-generation Qashqai, X-Trail and Pathfinder SUVs, as well as the halo Z sports car.

The new Qashqai small SUV will be the first to arrive Down Under and is due out of England in the first half of 2022. It’ll also be the first Nissan here to use its unique e-Power hybrid powertrain.

Around the middle of 2022, the new Z coupe will tear into Nissan dealers and is reportedly in strong demand with nearly three-quarters of customers wanting the manual transmission.

During the second half of 2022, Nissan will launch its new X-Trail mid-sized SUV to battle the Toyota RAV4, and also launch the larger three-row Pathfinder to fight the Toyota Kluger.
