More details of the Mini Aceman electric hatchback have surfaced, courtesy of government documents filed in China where it will be built.
As reported by Car News China, the Mini Aceman will be available in both base and flagship S guise, according to documents filed with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Both Aceman variants are 1754mm wide, 1515 tall and ride on a 2606mm wheelbase, with an overall length of 4076mm or 4094mm, depending on the variant.
This makes it similar in size to the outgoing five-door Mini Hatch.
The documents show there will be a range of 17-, 18- and 19-inch wheels of varying designs, which feature alongside styling elements such as a much thinner front grille and Mini’s iconic Union Jack tail lights.
As with the new Countryman, the Mini Aceman’s S grade is denoted by yellow ‘S’ badging and silver front and rear skid plates.
Powering the Mini Aceman is a 135kW electric motor, driving the front wheels with energy supplied by a 40kWh battery. The Aceman S gains a 160kW front electric motor which is fed by a larger 54.2kWh battery.
This is identical to the new electric Mini Cooper hatchback, which will be built alongside the Aceman on the Spotlight electric vehicle (EV) platform developed by BMW and Great Wall Motor (GWM).
Mini’s Australian division has not yet confirmed whether it has plans to add the Aceman to its local lineup, though the brand is aiming for 50 per cent of its sales to come from EVs by 2027, before going electric-only by 2030.
