Kia has revealed a mid-life update for the EV6, bringing a raft of new features, tweaked styling, and a larger battery.

The 2025 Kia EV6 has been revealed in Korea ahead of an Australian launch in the fourth quarter of 2024.

The updated GT will be revealed later this year, with a local launch following a few months after the rest of the lineup.

A new, more energy-dense 84kWh battery replaces the old 77.4kWh unit, boosting claimed range from 475km to 494km in rear-wheel drive models with 19-inch alloy wheels.

Kia hasn’t specified the test cycle that figure is based on. It says dual-motor all-wheel drive models offer between 432km and 461km of range.

For reference, the current model offers between 484km and 528km of range on the WLTP cycle.

The company says the new, larger battery can still be charged from 10 to 80 per cent using a 350kW ultra-fast DC charger within 18 minutes.

In single-motor rear-wheel drive guise, the EV6 produces 168kW of power and 350Nm of torque, while dual-motor all-wheel drive models produce 239kW and 605Nm. These outputs are unchanged from the outgoing model.

Kia says it has improved ride comfort by retuning the frequency-sensitive shock absorbers, while also reducing noise with the addition of further sound deadening around the rear electric motor.

It also increased body rigidity by increasing the thickness of the B-pillar, while the EV6 gains second-row side airbags.

The EV6 wears a new face which Kia says aligns it with its “new family look” with angular new daytime running lights. There are two different front bumper and grille treatments, one for the GT-Line featuring a light bar, and the other for the rest of the range.

Down back, the changes are more subtle. They include new bumpers, with the GT-Line again receiving a unique lower treatment.

There’s still a full-width lighting element that arcs across the rear, but it has a new signature, while the EV6 also features new wheel designs.

The interior looks much the same as before, though Kia says it has “applied a more sophisticated panoramic curved display”. As before, this sees the digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen situated in one assembly.

The EV6 moves to Kia’s new ccNC infotainment system, which features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and supports over-the-air software updates.

There’s a new steering wheel, a fingerprint authentication system, ambient lighting with new “dynamic” graphics, and a revised wireless charging pad designed to better hold your phone in place.

The EV6 has the latest version of Kia’s Remote Smart Parking Assist and Digital Key systems, plus steering wheel grip detection for its lane assist systems.

There’s a new walk-away locking function, available power tilt and telescopic steering wheel adjustment, a 12-inch head-up display and a digital rear-view mirror.

There are new interior and exterior finishes, with the latter comprising:

    • Ivory Matte Silver
    • Snow White Pearl
    • Interstellar Grey
    • Aurora Black Pearl
    • Glacier
    • Moonscape Matte Grey
    • Yacht Blue
    • Runway Red

The GT-Line has a slightly different palette, comprising:

    • Wolf Grey
    • Yacht Matte Blue
    • Snow White Pearl
    • Aurora Black Pearl
    • Runway Red

    Interior colourways include:

    • Medium Grey
    • Green and Light Grey
    • Toffee Brown
    • Black and White (GT-Line only)

Kia says it hasn’t increased prices of the EV6 in Korea, but it remains to be seen whether it will do the same in Australia.

Pricing and local specifications will be announced closer to the EV6’s launch in the fourth quarter of 2024.
