The Porsche Macan could be in for another facelift, after a prototype wearing some revised components was spotted in Europe this week.

It’s no secret Porsche intends to offer the next-generation Macan as an electric-only option, however it’s also possible the current model – which was only facelifted in 2018 – could be refreshed again to see out a few more years, potentially alongside the all-new model to offer combustion and electric powertrain options.

Up front it appears the grille and intakes will get a mild redesign, and the headlights will get revised graphics as well.

At the rear, the bumper has been treated to a more significant refresh which really changes up the look from the current model.

Photographers also noted changes to the lower door trims as well as the Sport Design mirrors on a couple of prototypes, hinting that the optional side mirrors could come standard with the updated model.

Further changes were found inside one of the prototypes, showing upcoming changes to the cockpit in line with Porsche’s latest models like the Cayenne and Panamera.

Gone are most of the physical buttons, replaced by touch capacitive controls for a sleeker look. The steering wheel has also been updated and looks like it’s similar to the design that debuted on the new Panamera.

Beyond these changes, there could be an updated powertrain line-up – perhaps incorporating some form of hybridisation for the first time – in the interim before the electric model hits the market.

The Porsche Macan is now entering its sixth year of production, and continues to be based on the first-generation Audi Q5 – meaning it’s not riding on the newer VW Group MLB platform as the current Q5.

Further details about this updated Macan will likely come to hand in the months ahead, so stay tuned to CarExpert for all the latest.
